My First Mess

Well, I downloaded Painter yesterday. I played around and didn't keep anything. Then I found my pen last night, so I figured I would give it a whirl. I started doing something ... sky, grass, clouds ... then I attempted some childish form of a sun ... and it all went down hill from there.

My First Mess ... was completed in about 20 minutes of playing. I was trying brushes, pens, sponges ... colors, layers ... and guess what ... I still don't know what I'm doing. No way, huh?

At least it's something ... at least I didn't say, whoa this sucks and stop right away (like all the others). I will work on it ... I'll come up with something. It may not be good ... but it will be something!

Have a good weekend everyone. I am going to the Gary Allan concert tonight and the rest of the weekend has no major plans set. I will be taking my computer home, so I hope to play more with Painter.

New software endeavor

I read other people's blogs. And my favorite of all time is www.unkemptwomen.blogspot.com
I don't know if it's because she is English (with my odd fascination of English ways and accents and phrasing ... of course, half of that comes from my Harry Potter obsession ... ) or because she does graphics or because she can scribble out something talk volumes on it. I love graphic design and I love my computer ... but I like the way her illustrations look drawn (paper and pen). So, I emailed her and talked to her about Painter. I might be well on my way to purchasing it.

I still have to play around with it ... and find the rest of my stuff here ... I can't find the stylus for the tablet ... rendering it useless. If I come up with something tomorrow, I will post it.

Until then ... here is the blog that I can't stop reading. Keep up the awesome-ness Vit!

The Games Have Begun

Okay ... I'm at Gnome Games. My nephew is dueling in a Yu-Gi-Oh Competition. I don't think this day could get any sadder. Wait ... here's the best part. He's in the higher competition ... with players of no age limit, the prizes are higher, and you can stay in only if you don't lose 5 times. He's lost twice. I'm crossing my fingers. Three more losses and we're out of here! No, I shouldn't be such an evil aunt. But I've been here since 9am and we went to the wrong store to begin with. It's only noon. And this thing could run as long as 7:30pm. What fun.

Revenge of the Nerds

I don't know what to write about today. There isn't too much going on. Sky is all excited about the Yu-Gi-Oh Competition that is going to happen on Saturday. I can hardly wait ... not. It's going to be all the same people from the weirdo Lord of the Rings party.

Remember when the WB (for those of you around Green Bay) had a call-in to win a free Lord of the Rings party for it's TV premier? Well, I called during That 70's Show one time ... and won. Oops. I never win the TV stuff. How in the hell ... no, no ... why in the hell did I call?!

Anyway, this party was at the old West Pitcher Show and I could bring 4 other people. Haha. Lots of luck with that. My friend Kristen and Greg came ... they had at least seen The Lord of the Rings before ... oh yeah, did I forget to mention, I had NEVER seen any of those movies. I was almost to the point of being anti-LotR. And one of my friends from school also came along. It was packed full of little nerds. Kids were dressed up and the food sucked. It was kind of neat being there though - I mean the theater itself was pretty cool.

Okay, okay ... back to the present. I have a sneaking suspision that it will be that lot again. Hmmm. We'll see if I survive. I have to go to the game store tomorrow evening so that Sky can buy some more cards and get some questions answered. Fun fun.

Speaking in Food

My oldest nephew is quite funny. And I don't mean just in looks (chill kid, it's a joke). But he has developed a unique sense of hearing. He hears things in food-talk. This hasn't just happened. It's been going on for a while.

I'm sure there are more entries, but for now I will have to tell you about the ones I can remember most vividly. Here goes:

1. The Nacho Man Randy Sandwich - translation The Macho Man Randy Savage
This started when he was real young. My younger brother was very into wrestling. And by "very" I mean obsessed. So naturally, little Sky was quite taken by it as well. He was probably about 6 when this name came to be.

2. Sky was telling me how he wanted a dog. And he knew what kind he wanted, too. It was one of those little hunting dogs. You know, a bagel? It took me a minute. You mean, a beagle? Yah! That's it! So I came back with, what - are you going to name it Cream Cheese?

3. A treadmill. You would think that only difficult part of this word would be tread sounding like tred. Hmmm. Apparently mill is pronounced meal in Sky's world. So it is known by him as the tread-meal. Which ... kind of makes sense doesn't it?

4. Everyone knows that song by Warrant. It's rather graphic in some of its description ... if you know what's going on. However, again Sky hears .... "I LIKE CHERRY PIE!"

So there is my list of vocab words for the moment. I'll update as they arise.
