Did you see the concert?

So - I went to the Montgomery Gentry concert last night. It was in Greenville (which was a bit like Denmark). And inevitably we had to sit through what I call the "no name bands" to get to them. It wasn't that they were bad ... but they weren't even doing country music. It was so much classic rock, I was being to expect Meatloaf or Def Lepard to come out at 10pm.

Well, I think that one of the best looking men in country music is Troy Gentry. And because the only time I listen to the radio is when my iPod is dead ... I didn't know the news that he'd had an accident on a horse ... broke his leg, ankle, I still don't know ... but he had a cast on. In other words - NO LEATHER PANTS! I was quite disappointed as you can tell.

We stayed until their first "non-theirs" song which was at about 11pm. I'm not hugely a Montgomery Gentry lovin' fan. I can name a few songs by them but the only one I'm attached to is Speed. And - lucky for them - they played it fairly early. Woohoo!

I had only 2 (I say only because I didn't even get through the second one) Barcadi Raz. They weren't bad. It wasn't wine cooler sweet and it wasn't nausiatingly strong. It was some good stuff however, I will not be paying four dollars a bottle ever-ever again ...

M and I (no, not the bank) took the long way home. It's quite difficult finding a gas station that is open in those little towns. And let me say ... I was quite impressed with the ladies' room at the Kwik Trip in Hortonville. Well done. It even had a hanging plant! M and I were giggling about it back in the car.

Sadly, I was home in bed by 1am. Nothing exciting to report. There were a couple good looking guys though. None of them within range of my animal magnetism I guess though. There was this one who looked like Cameron from Ferris Bueller's Day Off .... except he had radiatingly blue eyes ... well that's all I have to say for now. Ta ta! Enjoy your Sunday!

Way too early

I am up ... way too early. Here is the thing, I am going to go walking with my friend, M, at 9:30AM. I stayed up until almost 1am. Shouldn't I still be asleep? Apparently, no. Instead, I woke up at 6:45am - which is almost an hour before my regular (during the week) time to get up. What the hell?

Anyway, I'm going to the Montgomery Gentry concert tonight. Wow, that seems like a long way off. 10pm. Seriously - why am I up. Oh to blog of course. I have become terribly addicted to a few that I'm reading. I can only hope that at some time, someone will comment on my stuff to envoke an actual reason for writing something down. Hmmmm .... then I'll have to come up with something far more interesting to talk about, eh?

Well, I'll leave you with a pic I did. I drew this in Photoshop, just clarifying, my mom asking where I had taken it (meaning she thought it was a photograph).

Words I hate ...

There are a lot of words I hate. I mean ... just can't stand. I am not a professor in English but I would think that people older than myself, currently in school, and the self proclaimed know-it-alls would at least be able to get it right. My list is as follows:

1. supposably - from supposedly and probably being mashed together. Do these middle school, high school valley girls know that it isn't a word? I don't think so.

2. doverman - I have heard many people say this word with a "v". I have then asked them to spell this word. They spell it correct! But insist on pronouncing it as if they didn't just say the frickin' "b".

3. snap - My nephew says this instead of saying shit. I guess it's a good thing that he isn't swearing but it's awfully annoying to hear ... oh snap, what the snap (I guess it holds a place for f#$k, too), snap snap snap.

4. too - This is the most irritating to see in print. People online in chat ... I don't know how you can continue to be so dumb. Too (as well, in addition to, preceeded with a comma) .... !!!!!

Again I don't profess to be the smartest or the world's best English professor ... but come on people! Don't you at least want to NOT look so dumb?

Before school starts

Before school starts again on the 18th of August, I would really like to get a new digital camera. When I first got into anything even relating to photography, I got the Canon G5. I didn't know anything about shutter speeds, aperture, lighting ... and I ended up hating that camera. So I bought the Nikon 8700 which was also a step up in megapixels. Now - that I could understand. That had everything to do with the size of the pic and the resolution I would be able to see in Photoshop (I have a degree in printing). With this camera I had a photography class. I like this camera - I really do. But now I want to shoot with the big boys ... and as much as it kills me to go down in megapixels ... I would really like, no I AM going to get ... and SLR. The D70 is what the kids in our class had that the instructor saw as top of the line (in the class). And I know there are cameras above that, even in Nikon. But I don't have $5000 to drop on the camera alone ... then start to buy lenses. My friend has a D70 and all she can ever say about it, is how much it sucks that you can't get a cable release for it. You can buy a remote, but no cable release. Hmmm ... not that I was dying to have a cable release or anything but then I'm a little put off that I can't have one ... even if I wanted one. So the D70S should be everything the D70 was lacking ... I hope. I'm still reading through more reviews.

If anyone has any suggestions, places to buy (I generally go through ebay stores, best I've seen so far is $1300 for camera, plus three lenses), or lenses to sell - let me know.

And the pic I'll have up today is something I took for class. Architechure (I'm sure it was at one time) and then I Photoshopped it up a bit to make it look an oil painting. Enjoy!

Graphic Design Slump

I'm a graphic design student. I did really well in school. Real world ... not quite so right and wrong. Not that there aren't jobs and odd things to do. However, nothing jumps out and says - hey look at me, work on me! I have a full time job ... that rarely has anything to do with graphics. On the odd occasion I am able to work on something but it's more like forms or a remake layout. I'm feeling increasely more like ... I suck. I'm not creative. I can't come up with anything that I didn't have to see someone else do. I have looked at some of the other blogs... some of these people are illustrators. Thought I'd try that ... nothing ever gets finished. I can't scribble something out ... It has to be very precise ... I want to try to break out of that rigid formation. No luck.

Well, I will post a few images I've done. Perhaps seeing them up (instead of stashed in a folder) will spark me to make something ...

On this day ...

Well, here goes. My first blog. Nope - that's a lie. I tried this once before. I didn't get too far. I posted like one thing ... but never finished making the site even. Perhaps there are people who want to read what I have to say. Then again ... perhaps not. I always thought of these as online diaries ... and then I found some that were very "hear me roar" types. Hmmmm ... I could rant about a lot of things. But where to start ... hehehehe
